Early Life

Griezmann was born in the commune of Macon in the Saone-et-Loire department. His father Alain, a member of the city council,  belongs to a circle of relatives originating from Munster, Germany,  hence the German-surname. His last name was first written as "Griezmann" and then changed to "Griezmann" for social purposes. His mother, Isabel, a former clinic employee who led the cleaning team, is of Portuguese descent, and her father, Amaro Lopez, became a Portuguese football player in Pasos de Ferreira. Amaro Lopez came here to France with his wife, Caroline, to work in production in 1957, in which Isabel turned into Bourne, and died in 1992 when his grandson was young. As a child, Griezmann often spent holidays in Pasos de Ferreira, Portugal.

Griezmann began his career playing for his hometown club Macon. While there, he embarked on numerous trials with professional clubs with the intention of earning a place in one of their youth academies but was rejected due to the clubs being interested in his length and light body. In 2005, while on trial with Montpellier, Griezmann played in a friendly match against the Paris Saint-Germain Children's Academy in Paris and impressed several clubs, including Spain's Real Sociedad, whose scouts attended the event. After that, club officials presented Griezmann with a week-long trial in San Sebastian, which he often attended. It later changed, providing a 2-week live broadcast at the club. The membership then contacted his mother and father and officially offered the player a new contract. Griezmann's parents did not want their son to move to Spain from the very beginning but allowed him to do so after convincing assurances. Since Griezmann spent time on the children's stage at a Basque club, he can probably play for Athletic Bilbao, despite being born and raised in non-Basque areas of France.

Barcelona

On 12 July 2019, Barcelona announced the signing of Griezmann after they paid him a one-hundred-and-twenty-million-euro buyout clause, and the player had to sign a five-to 12-month contract with the club. Later in the day, however, Atletico Madrid disputed Barcelona's deal to sign the participant, mentioning that the fee paid is eighty million euros from his starting point, claiming that Griezmann had agreed to move to the Nou camp before July 1, while his two-hundred-million-euro buyout clause was reduced to one-hundred-and-twenty-million euros. Atletico later stated that they had "begun to use methods that it considers appropriate to protect its legitimate rights and interests" because of any deal, and reviews in the Spanish media suggest that the members planned to appeal to football's governing body FIFA to argue its case. On Bastille Day, he was introduced at the Camp Nou and turned into the number 17 shirt., he also made his debut in a pre-season friendly in Japan against Chelsea.

On the same day, several Atletico Madrid fans defaced Griezmann's plaque on Via Vanda Metropolitano,  because club members had officially filed a complaint with La Liga, whose president Javier Tebas later stated that "it is possible to block Griezmann's move", but also noted that "La Liga has yet to determine the path of movement". The switch turned into "eventually".
