Palermo
Following his breakthrough at the 2007 South American Youth Championship, several major teams were reportedly interested in signing Cavani, including Juventus and AC Milan. However, on 29 January 2007, Palermo chairman Maurizio Zamparini announced the signing of the promising Uruguayan. The offer was officially confirmed on January 31, in the amount of 4.475 million euros.[10] Cavani made his debut on 11 March 2007 in a home league match against Fiorentina, coming on in the fifty-fifth minute with his group in a 1-0 win and scoring an impressive equalizer just 15 minutes later, a goal, reminiscent of Marco van Basten's kick in the 1988 European Football Championship final. 2010–11: Move to Europe
In July 2010, Cavani signed for Napoli. The transition, however, turned into a mortgage of five million euros plus an alternative/obligation to shop directly for 12 million euros, making the entire bid 17 million euros. After making his debut for Napoli as a substitute in the previous sport, Cavani scored two goals in his first start as Napoli beat Elfsborg 2-0 in the UEFA Europa League and qualified for the main match.
